The Lower School Programs
The Lower School at Woodland Country Day School provides a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment for Kindergarten through Fourth Grade students. From the very first day of Kindergarten, our experienced teachers foster a strong work ethic, encouraging children to take responsibility for themselves and their actions while exploring a love of learning.
Our Lower School curriculum emphasizes academics, music, art, and technology, alongside manners, social skills, and collaborative learning. We offer a traditional academic program with a focus on language development, giving students a solid foundation in reading, writing, and oral communication that supports higher-level thinking.
Teachers integrate language and literature with science, history, geography, and the arts, including music and drama, creating a well-rounded education. Beginning in second grade, students learn cursive handwriting, reinforcing the importance of penmanship as part of our foundational skills. At Woodland’s Lower School, we prepare students to thrive academically, socially, and creatively, setting the stage for lifelong learning.
